2007 All-Sports Banquet Recap

The Wellsboro Hornets Sports Booster Club held their annual Sports Banquet last night in the Wellsboro High School Gym. The banquet recognizes not only senior athletes and their accomplishments, but accomplishments by all athletes throughout the entire school year. Throughout the course of the night, the Booster Club and Athletic Director Sherri Prough recognized teams, coaches, captains, coach's award recipients, and outstanding player award recipients from every sport.
Once all the athletic teams were introduced, the athletic memorial awards were presented. Jesse Tom and Jerry Heichel received the Rev. Wade Stewart and John Wilcox Memorial Awards respectively for their contributions to the football team during the last four years. Levi Hewitt also received a PIAA Sportsmanship Award, and Devon Jones received the football coach's award from Head Coach Chris Morral.
The biggest awards of the night were saved for last. The John Prevost Memorial Awards are presented to the Male and Female Athletes of the Year. This year, Tim Shaw and Heather Sayre were selected as the winners. Tim has participated in Football, Basketball, and Baseball for the last four years, while Heather has participated in Cross Country and Track over the same time span. Congratulations are in order for these two athletes, as they exhibited the strength, determination, and dedication to the respective sports throughout their high school careers.
