By: Ed Weaver | PIAA District IV | September 29, 2012

Freshman Dawson Prough scored 3 goals to help push the Hornets to a 6-0 win over Towanda.

Prough's first goal came at 6:50 off an assist from brother Dylan Prough and Gillan Alafoginis to put the Hornets up 1-0. Prough scored his second goal in the 10th minute off an assist from Senior Spencer Kreisler. 14 minutes later, Freshman Tucker Worthington scored his first career Varsity goal off an assist from Dawson Prough to put the Hornets up 3-0.

In the second half, Prough recorded his final goal of the contest in the 43rd minute off an assist from Junior Dan Brooks. Wellsboro's final two goals came from Kreisler (Brooks assist) and Junior Erik Stemcosky.

"I was very happy with how the team played today. We possessed the ball well and looked for the right times to attack," said head coach John Shaffer. "I'd also like to congratulate Jake Mitchell and the defense on their first clean sheet of the season."

With the win, the Hornets improve to 4-7-1 overall (3-1 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Tuesday, October 2 as they travel to Galeton.
