The Wellsboro Varsity Baseball team dropped a 12-2 game to Athens on Saturday, April 18.

Athens held a 2-1 lead heading into the 4th inning, but busted the game wide open as they scored seven runs in the inning to put the game out of reach.

Junior Dawson Prough scored both runs for the Hornets as he was hit by three pitches to reach base. Junior James Mundy was 2-for-2 at the plate and Senior Nick Levindoski, and Juniors Nick Webster and Sam Moss each had hits on the day.

Junior Joe Allen started on the mound and pitched 3 and 2/3 innings before being relieved by Mundy for the final 2 and 1/3 innings.

With the loss, the Hornets fall to 3-4 (1-2 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Monday, April 20 as they travel to Mansfield.
