Girls track 1st, boys 3rd at Canton

The Wellsboro Girls Track team took home the top spot while the boys finished 3rd in a tri-meet with Canton and Northern Tioga on Tuesday, March 29 in Canton.

In the girls meet, Wellsboro won with 83 points, Northern Tioga was 2nd with 53.5, and Canton was 3rd at 52.5. Senior Haley Zuchowski won the 100m hurdles (17.4), seniors Jada Jackson (36' 1.5") and Lindsey Graver (29' 7.5") took 1st and 2nd in the triple jump, senior Joey Taft (7' 0") was 2nd in the pole vault, and Jackson won the 100m in 13.1.

Sophomore Anna Bleggi (6:19) was 3rd in the 1600m run, junior Allyssa Boyd (25' 5") was 3rd in the shot put, senior Camryn Keane (1:14.6) was 3rd in the 400m, Jackson won the long jump at 15' 5.25", and Zuchowski won the 300m hurdles in 53.6 with sophomore Jillian Graver 3rd at 1:00.6.

Bleggi was 2nd in the 800m run in 2:51.8, Lindsey Graver (29.8) won the 200m, Wellsboro won both the 4x100m relay (56.9) and the 4x400m relay (5:07), senior Mikayla Feil (5' 0") took 1st in the high jump and senior Raisa Rogers (5' 0") was 2nd, and Feil won the javelin with a throw of 85' 5".

In the boys meet, Northern Tioga won with 84 points, Canton was 2nd with 71.5, and Wellsboro was 3rd with 30.5. Sophomore Alex Kozuhowski (12.0) was 3rd in the 100m with sophomore Chase Moser (12.2) in 4th, junior Casey Hoover was 4th in the discus (81' 8"0), sophomore Gabe Leach (8' 6") was 3rd in the pole vault, junior Alex Freeman (1:03.3) was 3rd in the 400m, senior Isaac Leach (2:25.7) was 3rd in the 800m, and Kozuhowski was 2nd in the 200m (24.3).

Freshman Aidan Perry (11:51.6) and Isaac Leach (12.27.1) were 3rd and 4th in the 3200m run, Wellsboro won the 4x800m run in 9:42 and the 4x100m in 49.5, and junior Brody Coolidge (122' 9") was 2nd in the javelin throw.

"For our third time on a track this year, we did very well," said Elizabeth Hoover. "We had kids in events that had never seen the event before. Despite that, we had district qualifiers and many personal bests."

The girls start the year 2-0 while the boys are 0-2. Both teams will be on the road in Sayre next Tuesday, April 5.
