EJ, Bloom, Midd-West earn field hockey wins

EJ, Bloom, Midd-West earn field hockey wins

East Juniata, Bloomsburg, and Midd-West picked up field hockey wins on Tuesday, September 12.

East Juniata 2, Lancaster Country Day 1

Laney Dowling put EJ up 1-0 in the first period off an assist from Chloe Dressler with 5:29 remaining. Dowling then scored with 20:03 showing in the second on an assist from Kyli Dowling to take a 2-0 lead. LCD's Claire Deimel scored with 11:19 to cut the lead in half.

"The girls played a great game and were able to stop Lancaster Country Day from scoring the tying goal. The girls came out ready to play, and were able to break through and score a goal in each of the halves. We will come back Thursday and play a great game against Newport."

EJ outshot LCD 14-13 and had a 9-6 advantage in corners. LCD's Gaby Kuntz made 13 saves and Madison Beward made 12 for EJ.

Bloomsburg 10, Milton 2

Bloomsburg scored 7 first period goal in their 10-2 over Milton Tuesday. Kayla Tudor, Jaryn Bond (Lauren Brouse), Erica Yodock, Jaryn Bond, Ali Bond (Kendra Loft), Ali Bond (Emma Wagner), and Kendra Bond scored in the first period. Ali Bond (Morgan Millard), Ayden McFarland, Lauren Brouse (Rasheen Bouveais) then scored in the second period.

Milton's Cora Sandrick scored two goals, both in the second period. Larissa Shearer made 24 saves for the Black Panthers.

Midd-West 8, Danville 1

Midd-West's Breeann Sheaffer scored 4 goals (2 assists), 3 in the first half, in the PHAC win. Sheaffer scored unassisted at 28:46, then off an assist from Brenna Brown at 18:32 and 13:37. Beth Wagner, from Sheaffer, scored at 2:58 to make it 4-0.

The Mustangs added 4 more second period goals from Wagner, Mariah Stuck, and Sheaffer.

Danville's Julia Kiedhammer scored the Ironmen's only goal and Kiera Fahey made 31 saves.
