Lewisburg tops East Juniata

The Green Dragons Field Hockey team scored a 3-0 shutout victory over East Juniata on Saturday, September 16.
Lewisburg scored two first half goals. Izzy Zaleski scored unassisted to put Lewisburg up 1-0 at 13:26 then Gaby Markunas, assisted by Sarah Reif, made it 2-0 with 2:23 remaining. Lewisburg's Cassie West added the final goal with 4:29 remaining in the second half.
"The girls played well and were able to make Lewisburg work for the goals that they scored," said EJ head coach Harley Straub. "The girls continued to play through everything. The girls need to start going to the ball and challenging and rushing the opposing teams. I am pleased with how the girls played and we will come back Monday and play hard."
Lewisburg outshot EJ 24-2 and had a 12-2 advantage in penalty corners. Kerstin Koons made 2 saves in goal for Lewisburg while Madi Beward saved 23 shots for EJ.
