Wellsboro, EJ, Lewisburg, Loyalsock capture 2018 District golf gold

Wellsboro (AA Boys), East Juniata (AAA Boys), Lewisburg (AA Girls), and Loyalsock (AAA Girls) took home team championships at day one of the District IV Golf Tournament at Williamsport Country Club on Thursday, October 4.

Wellsboro won the AA Boys title by 10 strokes over Central Columbia, 322-332, and Northern Tioga was close behind in 3rd overall (334). East Juniata, the only team in AAA Boys, shot 366 to win. In the girls matches, Lewisburg claimed the AA crown as they beat Warrior Run 356-444 and Loyalsock took the top spot in the AAA girls with a round of 364.

Rounding out the rest of the AA Boys field was Danville (346) in 4th, Bloomsburg (370) in 5th, Lewisburg (382) in 6th, North Penn-Mansfield (383) in 7th, Midd-West (388) in 8th, Lourdes Regional (396) in 9th, Montoursville (408) in 10th, and Benton (423) in 11th. Warrior Run did not finish.

Central Columbia's Grant Gronka is atop the leaderboard after day one with a round of 72, one over par. Northern Tioga's Austin Outman shot 73 for 2nd, Wellsboro's Ben Barnett (74) was 3rd, Ty Morral of Wellsboro shot 77 for 4th, and Central Columbia's Tyler Levitski rounded out the top 5 with a 79. 24 golfers advance to round two of competition.

In the AAA Boys round East Juniata's Will Orwig shot 83 to take the day one lead, Shikellamy's Brian Snyder was 2nd with and 85, Selinsgrove's Dylan DeFazio (89) was 3rd, East Juniata's Colby Breeding (91) was 4th, and Tanner Barth (92) of East Juniata was 5th.

In the AA Girls competition, Bloomsburg's Morgan Sohosky sits in 1st following a round of 81 followed by Lewisburg's Ryleigh Faust (109), Montoursville's Lauren Marks (113), Lewisburg's Brynn Wagner (121), and Warrior Run's Sienna Tompkins (122).

For the AAA Girls, Loyalsock's Mia Patterson (115) is in 1st heading into the second day with teammates Bree Free (124) and Alessia Antonacci (125) in 2nd and 3rd. East Juniata's Molly Diehl (131) rounds out the top 4 girls making the cut in 4th.

Day two of the District IV Golf Tournament will take place today back at Williamsport Country Club with a 9:00 a.m. start.
