MECHANICSBURG - Today, the Governor’s Office and PA Department of Education (PDE) issued Preliminary School Sports’ Guidance for schools. This information will allow each school to resume voluntary sports' related activities and to develop their own Athletics, Health and Safety Plan.
This guidance is preliminary and will be updated as more public health data and other information is available.
PIAA recognizes that students and schools desire to engage in voluntary out‐of season activities.
“We want kids to be kids and play sports and be representatives of their school and community.”
It is with great sadness that the 2020 District IV Football All-Star game, scheduled for June 19, 2020, has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 virus.
The Line Mountain Football team will be hosting their annual Boosters Golf Tournament on July 26, 2020.
On Friday, April 17, several PIAA District IV Schools will begin honoring the Class of 2020 and supporting the nurses, doctors, and first responders on the front line of COVID-19 by lighting up our high school stadium at 8:20 pm (2020 hours) for 20 minutes.
In accordance with Governor Tom Wolf's announcement earlier today that Pennsylvania schools will be closed to in‐person learning for the remainder of the school year, the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association, Inc. (PIAA) has cancelled all remaining Winter and Spring sports and championships.
At his daily update on the COVID-19, coronavirus pandemic, yesterday, Wednesday, April 8, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf supported PIAA's shutdown of the winter sports championships.
On Monday, March 30, 2020, the PIAA Board of Directors, due to the closure of schools and the "stay at home" directives imparted by Governor Wolf in 26 counties, met via teleconference to discuss various items that would have been part of its regularly scheduled Board of Directors Meeting of March 18, 2020.
On Monday, March 23, 2020, Governor Wolf issued a "stay at home" directive to citizens in seven counties for the next two weeks.
All schools are to be closed starting Monday, March 16, 2020 for 10 business days.
