The Lewisburg Golf Team took home a 2nd place finish at Heritage Hills yesterday.
The Green Dragons finished with a team score of 313 to finish behind Devon Prep (304). Boiling Springs (331) was 3rd, North Catholic (334) was 4th, Union City (344) was 5th, and Tyrone (346) was 6th.
"What a day for Lewisburg golf," coach Joe Faust said. "It's really hard to put into words how proud I am of these players. To see their expressions at the end of their round put the perfect cap on a historic season in Green Dragon golf history.
"This accomplishment did not happen by accident, these players have dedicated themselves to the game, they have committed themselves to the practice and they have endured hours of training to get to this point! They have invested in their games by working with PGA professionals and swing instructors, they have a passion to compete and have developed the mental capacity needed to compete at this level. From their first day on the team as freshmen or sophomores they have had their sight set on the PIAA Championship."
Nick Mahoney shot a course par of 71, Sean Kelly was 4 over par with a 75, William Grunland finished with an 81, and Ava Markunas carded an 86. Zach Gose shot a 91.
"PIAA State runner up is a great showing for our team. One more unforgettable day for the Dragon Golfers and this Dragon Coach! I loved every minute of working with this group!"
Also on the day the Loyalsock AA Girls team took home a 4th place finish with a score of 267. Allyia Kennedy led the team with an 85, Mia Patterson finished with an 88, and Grace Shaible had a 94.
Congratulations to both Lewisburg and Loyalsock on tremendous seasons.
