Locals compete in District IV tennis.

Four NTL tennis players, two from Towanda, one from Galeton and one from Wellsboro, advanced to the second round of the District IV singles tennis tournament on Wednesday.

Towanda's Matt McNeal defeated Shikellamy's Jacob Mouary 7-5, 6-1 in the first round, but then fell to Danville's Dhru Kotru, 6-0, 6-3.

Galeton's Cooper Sunderlin defeated Milton's Andy McNeal 6-2, 6-1 in the first round, but then lost to Montoursville's Casey Haas, 7-5, 6-1.

Wellsboro's Nate Redell beat Bloomsburg's Cong Zhang 6-3, 6-4 in the first round but then lost to Lewisburg's Carter Casimir 6-2, 6-0 in the second round.

Towanda's Anthony Vogel downed Loyalsock's Austin Martin 6-2, 6-3 in the first round but then fell to Central Columbia's Avery Prudent 6-1, 6-0.

The tournament will continue today, starting at 4 p.m. at the West Branch Tennis Club with the semi-finals.
