Wellsboro sweeps North Penn-Liberty.

Wellsboro swept North Penn-Liberty 7-0 in NTL girls’ tennis action Monday.

At first singles, Olivia Ryan beat Hannah DiMarco 6-1, 6-3; at second singles, Morgan Guthrie won over Maddie Burd 6-3, 6-2; and at third singles Kristen Bair beat Isabela Clark 6-0, 6-2.

At fourth singles, Georgia Macensky won over Emma Eglesia 6-2, 6-1; and, at fifth singles, Abigail Colton won over Allison Duval 6-0, 6-0.

At first doubles, Kassie Lewis and Ashayla Faulkner defeated Jena Kaser and Kylie Holmes 6-1, 6-1; and, at second doubles, Alyssa Wagaman and Bethany Zuchowski won over Katie Nealon and Dania Dawes 6-0, 3-6, 6-2.

St. John Neumann 5, Towanda 2

The Lady Knights won two of five matches in their non-league loss.

At first doubles, Meghan Mendler and Kelsie Davidson beat Molly Foresman and Breanna Minnier 6-1, 6-1, while at fifth singles Kerrigan Walsh topped Scarlett Knight Maria Johnson 6-0, 6-0.

At first singles, MayLyn Ettinger beat Mendler 6-3, 6-3; at second singles, Foresman won over Davidson 7-6, 6-3; at third singles, Minnier topped Kelly Hoffman 6-0, 6-0; at fourth singles, Maria Helminiak defeated Morris 6-1, 6-2; and at sescond doubles Ettinger and Helminiak beat Morris and CAssie Swackhamer 6-1, 6-0.

In exhibition action Towanda’s Maria Johnson lost to Gracie Detrick 3-2.

Corning 5, Notre Dame 2

The Crusaders got wins at second singles and first doubles in their loss to the Hawks.

At second singles, Chloe Stemermen defeated Maddy Wozniak 6-4, 6-2; while at first doubles, the duo of Hannah Mahon and Izzy Milazzo beat Skylar Treadwell and Holly Boersen 6-7 (5-7), 7-5, 10-5.

At first singles, Corning’s Connie Hou beat Madeleine Meier 6-2, 7-5; at third singles, Megan Pesanky won over Notre Dame’s Lucy Kaffenbarger 6-2, 7-5; and at fourth singles, Corning’s Olivia Colonna defeated Maddie Wirth 6-3, 6-4.

At second doubles, Nicole Dunlap and Jessica Pesansky won over the Crusader duo of Mary Zwirko and Angie Liriano 6-0, 6-2, while Corning’s twosome of Gina Landry and Sydney Wood topped Evelynn Dean and Alexandra Meier 7-5, 6-3.
