Wellsboro downs North Penn-Liberty.

Wellsboro defeated North Penn-Liberty 6-1 in NTL boys' tennis action Thursday.

The Hornets won all five singles matches: Nate Redell defeated Jonathan Nelson 6-2, 6-2, Frankie Rexford topped Zach Fetzer 6-2, 6-0, Noah Fitch won over Zach Roupp 6-1, 6-1, Ethan Ryan beat Casey Amaral 6-2, 6-2 and Adam Cornell defeated River Hicks-Lee 6-1, 6-2.

NP-Liberty's team of Nelson and Fetzer beat Will Poirier and Luke Leach 6-4, 6-4 at first doubles.

Wellsboro's team of Zach Lundgren and Kyle Reese topped Patric Schon and Nick Lowry 6-2, 6-0 at second doubles.

"It was a pleasure watching the Hornet team play smart tennis tonight," said Wellsboro coach Margery Hoffman. "They showed patience and waited for the opening to put the ball away. It was a very solid performance tonight at every position."

Waverly 5, Southern Cayuga 2

The Wolverines picked up an IAC boys' tennis win Thursday.

Waverly won the first three singles matches as Hunter Heath topped Oscar Montalvo 6-0, 6-0, Jose Garcia defeated Michael Redmond 6-3, 6-1 and Seth Lloyd won over John Groth 7-6 (7-2), 6-0.

Southern won the fourth singles match as Dan Groth beat Kaleb Ennis 6-3, 6-2.

At first doubles the Waverly duo of Zack Baldwin and Haley Onofre defeated Riky Pearson and Keith Wasleff 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 and at third doubles the Wolverine team of Cayla Carnrike and Siara Tompkins won by forfeit.

Waverly's team of Collin Keefer and Theresa Kraus fell to Conrad Murphy and Owen Overhiser 7-5, 7-6 (7-3).
