PIAA District IV Girls Lacrosse Post-Season Info

 

The top four lacrosse teams in boys and girls in the sub-region of District IV and District VI are eligible for the District IV-VI Tournament provided they play a minimum of nine (9) games. District IV-VI will have one girls team and one boys team advance to the state tournament.

Only official PIAA varsity games will be considered for your record. An official game is one with a PIAA contract (or league scheduled) and your opponent must be a member of the PIAA in lacrosse, all games that count must be conducted by PIAA Officials.

The district playoff games shall be conducted in accordance with the PIAA rules and regulations governing interscholastic sports competition. The National Federation Lacrosse Rules are the official PIAA rules. Teams that enter the playoffs agree to all the regulations established by the district lacrosse committee. The district committee will assign officials and a game manager for each game.

Seeding

Teams will be seeded according to the power rating system as instituted by the District IV Committee.

A total of the top four ranked teams of the District IV-District VI sub-region that played 9 games or more are eligible for District IV-VI Playoffs.

Notification must be e-mailed by 10:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024 of a school's intention to compete or not in the district competition. Games played after May 18, 2024 will not count towards seeding.

Eligibility

To be eligible a school must play a minimum of 9 official varsity games by May 18, 2024. Games scheduled after the first game of the season will not be considered to qualify a team for district competition (or overall record) unless pre-approved by the District IV Committee.

  3. Spectator seating
  4. Provision to charge admission
  5. Geographical location

Hosting Schools

First round girls games will be played at 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at a site to be determined. First round boys games will be played at 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at a site to be determined. The teams on the top of the bracket will be the home team and wear light colored uniforms. The visiting team will be responsible for having uniforms of a contrasting color.

Each school shall provide the following for every game:

  1. one (1) adult scorer
  2. two (2) ball chasers

Facilities

Teams should come to the tournament dressed for the game. Locker rooms and showers may be available after each game, please call ahead to Athletic Director of hosting school. Notify the host school Athletic Director if dressing facilities are desired before the semi-final, and/or championship games.
